I read the Bible because...

If you speak the magic words of the title within any SOTW student's earshot, you are bound to get great attention. Yes, thats the subject we've been tackling for the last few weeks and have to submit our essays on thursday.
I have been a very good girl and am already done with my essay so here's to all of you, any thoughts on why you read the Bible....

Daddy knows everything!!

Hope nobody has missed me too much. After all it was only three days!!I had a great time in Nuneaton, as always... and guess what, I had a 'daddy knows everything' moment on Wednesday.
Michael [Jacqueline's three year old son] and I were playing with a dinosaur puzzle and it had a dinosaur in the water. None of us had any bright ideas about what it was called so Michael christened[is that allowed?] it 'the swimming one'. A few minutes later Jacqueline was talking to Chris on the phone and she casually posed the question regarding the swimming dinosaur. I automatically almost went "Oh come on...!!" but surprisingly enough without a moment's delay daddy did have an answer "Plesiosaurus!!!" [the spelling is correct, my posts are well-researched]. Honestly, I couldnt believe, he recalled such a fact from memory...I should say [about my dad too] they just seem to know everything!!
And if human dads can be so all knowing, well, what about the heavenly one???

He did it!!

Who is this coming from Edom, from Bozrah, with his garments stained crimson? Who is this, robed in splendor, striding forward in the greatness of his strength? "It is I, speaking in righteousness, mighty to save."
Why are your garments red, like those of one treading the winepress?
"I have trodden the winepress alone; from the nations no one was with me. I trampled them in my anger and trod them down in my wrath; their blood spattered my garments, and I stained all my clothing. Isaiah 63:1-3

It did stain all his clothing but this very treading was the act that caused us to see God, to have the capability of having an intimate communion with him. Praise God! He died for us, praise God, it didnt end there....

Found it...at last!!!

It had been years now since I had been looking for 'Quo Vadis', the award winning novel, which had moved me greatly since I had seen its movie version. All I had gotten hold of was a translated version but I had longed to read it in English also.
And at last, as I browsed through the books in a charity shop with my friend Alicia, suddenly my eyes fell on this old book, there it was, in flesh and blood, if I may use those terms, 'Quo Vadis' and without losing a single moment, I bought it with some other stuff and went home with a content heart.
So which is your favourite book and have you got it treasured in your possession?

Take it or leave it!

Its crunch time, the Kingdom is advancing, do we want to be a part of this cosmic intervention in our Age? Time of pondering and reasoning is gone. Its time to stand up and take some action...its time to start doing what we talk about...its time to be faithful...

“How Talkative at first lifts up his plumes!
How bravely doth he speak! How he presumes
To drive down all before him! But so soon
As Faithful talks of heart-work, like the moon
That’s past the full, into the wane he goes;
And so will all but he that heart-work know.”

i think like John Bunyan!!

As you know I have been reading 'Pilgrim's Progress' and today as I was reading it, some of these lines transported me back to my childhood when all of us four sisters would have equal portions of our favourite Maggie Noodles[yummm!!] and we would eat them as slowly as we could so we would be the last one eating.

Passion had not so much reason to laugh at Patience because he had his good things first, as Patience will have to laugh at Passion because he had his best things last; for first must give place to last, because last must have his time to come: but last gives place to nothing, for there is not another to succeed. He, therefore, that hath his portion first, must needs have a time to spend it; but he that hath his portion last, must have it lastingly:

Yet another journey...

I have just begun 'Pilgrim's Progress' by John Bunyan, and already have come across some beautiful and meaningful lines. So here's a taste for you and I warn you there might be many more on the way. Bunyan is pondering on his adventurous venture and what it may turn out to be:

Dark clouds bring waters, when the bright bring none.
Yea, dark or bright, if they their silver drops
Cause to descend, the earth, by yielding crops,
Gives praise to both, and carpeth not at either,
But treasures up the fruit they yield together;
Yea, so commixes both, that in their fruit
None can distinguish this from that; they suit
Her well when hungry; but if she be full,
She spews out both, and makes their blessing null.

Meaty Munchies

After recieving the news of her husband's death, this is what Barbara Youderian wrote in her diary:

"I wrote a letter to the mission family, trying to explain the peace I have. I want to be free of self-pity. It is a tool of Satan to rot away a life. I am sure that this is the perfect will of God. Many will say, 'Why did Roj get mixed up in this, when his work was with Jivaros?' Because Roj came to do the will of Him that sent him. The Lord has closed our hearts to grief and hysteria, and filled in with His perfect peace."
